[NI0898] The Mollett family was founded in America by Noah Mollett, who was an English soldier sent to this country during the American Revolution. He sympathized with the colonists and deserted the English for service with the American forces. At the conclusion of the war he settled on a tract of land which was granted to him by the Government, and in what is now known as Montgomery County, West Virginia. From there the Mollett family came to Eastern Kentucky, some of them settling on Rockcastle Creek in Martin County and others on Greasy Creek in Johnson County. John R. (Big Eye) Mollett was the pioneer of the Greasy Creek family. He had a son John R. Jr., who lived at Boones Camp, and was the father of Ben Mollett, who married Florence Ward of Kirkland, Arizona, and now resides at Phoenix: and of Mrs. Frank Conley of Paintsville, Kentucky.
